Im new to the forum and new to film making I was wanting to see if I could pick up any helpful information.
Here is the story ...Some friends and I are really into indie films and love watching them. We also love running around with cameras and recording everything. So something poped in our heads one day "hey whats stopping us from making a no-budget film?" and so my quest into guerilla film making evolved.
Right now we have a screenplay written up for a sci-fi movie. We plan on editing with adobe premire. The only thing right now is deciding if we should go analog, or go digital. We all have a camcorder of some sort but none of them are digital, all of them are analog. I have been directed to the TRV-30. And I know the equitment isnt what makes the movie, its the story. We all really think the story is good. We are just trying to find some guidence from others that have been through the same route.
Thanks-
Kyle

If you shoot on Hi8, and then transfer to digital for editing, you usually have pretty descent quality. I did five shorts this way, and never had any complaints... but it is just kind of jarring when you see a similar project shot on digital, and you think "**** , that's really clear...". But seeing as how that isn't an option, don't worry about the format, and just concentrate on making a cool movie, learning what you are doing as you go, and doing justice to the original script you wrote. Good luck.

i have also been using hi8, and i agree it is prety good quality.
digital's great 'n'all, but if you already have muiltiple analog cameras, i'dd have to suggest sticking to them, at least for a while. ahh the prospect of muiltiple cameras on one take *drool*
but on the other hand, i would also recomend going digital if you can afford it, especially if you already have a computer good enough to edit on
what ever you chose, good luck

You could always buy a d8 camera.

Blackfrog my first short was shot using a low end d8 camera.
